This bill aims to increase payment rates for specific residential substance use disorder (SUD) treatment providers in Minnesota. Currently, the law provides for a one percent rate increase for certain SUD services implemented in 2017. The new bill creates a significant rate increase of 50 percent for specific residential SUD services, to take effect on July 1, 2025. The rate increase will apply to particular types of residential treatment services as defined in section 254B.05, subdivision 5, specifically those involving clauses (1), (6), (8), (9), and (10). Providers must meet existing requirements outlined in section 254B.05 to qualify for this rate increase. The substantial 50 percent rate boost is intended to support and potentially improve the financial sustainability of residential substance use disorder treatment providers, which could help maintain or expand treatment capacity in Minnesota.
