This bill amends Pennsylvania's vehicle inspection laws by initiating a process to remove certain counties from the enhanced vehicle emission inspection and maintenance program. Specifically, the bill directs the Department of Environmental Protection to remove seven counties with specific population ranges from the program within 60 days of the bill's effective date. For counties not initially removed, the department must explore removing them from the program if they can demonstrate maintaining air quality standards without the emissions inspection program. Additionally, the department is required to notify key legislative committee chairs about the revised implementation plan and publish a notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin once the U.S. EPA approves the plan. The bill will take effect 60 days after its passage.
