This bill establishes a grant program to support veteran retreats at Camp Bliss in Walker, Minnesota. The commissioner of veterans affairs will provide a grant to Independent Lifestyles, Inc., to support retreats for eligible veterans and their family members. Eligible veterans are defined as those with honorable service documented by a DD-214 (a certificate of release or discharge from active military service) or current military members in active or reserve components. Family members include the veteran's spouse, domestic partner, or child. The grant can be used to provide customized therapy, transportation, activities, and camp maintenance. The commissioner will reimburse the grant recipient at least $850 per veteran or family member who attends the camp, with funding for up to two visits per year for each participant. The bill appropriates $150,000 in both fiscal years 2026 and 2027 from the general fund to support this program, with the funds being added to the agency's base budget.
