This bill amends Tennessee's existing law regarding abortion reporting by expanding the list of officials who must receive detailed quarterly reports from the Department of Health about abortion procedures. Specifically, the bill adds the chairs of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the House Committee with jurisdiction over criminal justice-related matters to the existing reporting requirements. Currently, these reports are likely already being sent to other key officials like the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the bill simply broadens the distribution to include these additional committee chairs. The reports, which must be submitted four times per year (by January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1), will presumably continue to include information about each abortion procedure and the subsequent disposition of the aborted fetal tissue.
