The scoring criteria, which will be periodically updated by the Department of State, will apply to digital electronic equipment manufactured for the first time and first sold or used in New York one year after the bill becomes law, and will consider factors such as the availability of repair documentation, tools, and parts, software support length, and existing repairability index standards from other jurisdictions. This act will take effect one year after it becomes law.
