The alert will automatically terminate when the missing person is located or after a predetermined notification period. Importantly, the department of transportation is not required to use dynamic message signs if doing so would risk federal highway funding. The system aims to provide a rapid, coordinated response to help locate and protect domestic violence victims who go missing.
