It specifically emphasizes alarming trends such as the increasing recruitment of trafficking victims through social media platforms, the growing number of boy victims, and the fact that every two minutes a child in the US is trafficked. The resolution also notes Delaware-specific data, including that the state's Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families screened 114 youth for trafficking concerns in the fiscal year 2024, and the National Human Trafficking Hotline identified 269 trafficking cases and 611 victims in the state. By recognizing this month, the Delaware General Assembly aims to raise public awareness about the signs, consequences, and ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking, supported by the Delaware Anti-Trafficking Action Council (DATAC), which has been instrumental in coordinating statewide responses and disseminating public awareness information.
