This joint resolution recognizes the Easterseals/CAI Volleyball Challenge, an annual fundraising event that supports Easterseals Delaware & Maryland's Eastern Shore, an organization providing services to people with disabilities and senior citizens for over 75 years. The resolution highlights the event's 44-year history, during which over $6.4 million has been raised, and specifically celebrates the 20th year of friendly competition between Delaware's Democratic and Republican teams, who have collectively raised more than $70,298. The resolution also honors this year's Volleyball Ambassador, Penelope "Penny" Pratz, a two-year-old receiving physical therapy and early childhood education through Easterseals, and takes place on March 8 at the University of Delaware Carpenter Sports Building. Additionally, the resolution includes a provision encouraging more elected officials to participate in the volleyball match to maintain the contest's integrity, with the Delaware Republican team currently leading the Democrat team ten matches to eight.
