This bill directs the Connecticut Department of Transportation to install sound barriers at four specific locations in Meriden to mitigate traffic noise resulting from highway interchange improvements. The sound barriers will be installed along Interstate Route 691 eastbound between Hubbard Park and Chamberlain Highway exit to protect residents on Steuben Street; along Interstate Route 91 southbound between the Middletown line and Preston Avenue exit to buffer residents on Thurrott Avenue; along Connecticut Route 15 northbound from the Wallingford line to Paddock Avenue overpass to provide noise protection for residents on Beth Ann Circle, Royal Oak Circle, and Elmwood Drive; and along Connecticut Route 15 southbound from Paddock Avenue overpass to the Wallingford line to shield residents of Sterling Village and Prann Court. The purpose of these sound barriers is to reduce increased traffic noise generated by the recent highway interchange improvement project involving Interstate Routes 91 and 691, and Connecticut Route 15.
