This bill establishes a comprehensive grant program administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development to address affordable housing and child care challenges by supporting the co-location of housing and child care facilities. The program will award competitive grants up to $10 million to eligible entities like public housing authorities, community development organizations, and tribal entities to design, construct, retrofit, or renovate facilities that integrate child care services within or near housing developments. Priority will be given to projects serving low-income communities, child care deserts, rural areas, and providers who serve very low-income families or have Head Start designations. Applicants must demonstrate partnerships with child care providers, commit to not displacing current residents, and develop a detailed business plan.
