This bill proposes to amend Title 38 of the United States Code, which governs veterans' benefits and programs, to establish specific qualifications for individuals appointed as marriage and family therapists within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) who are also qualified to provide clinical supervision. Clinical supervision is a process where a licensed mental health professional oversees the work of another therapist to ensure quality care and professional development. The bill clarifies that to be appointed as a marriage and family therapist in the VHA and be qualified for clinical supervision, a person must meet existing qualifications (referred to as "subparagraph (A)") and also be recognized by their state as a provider of, or otherwise permitted by their state to provide, clinical supervision.
