AI Summary

This bill amends the Illinois Criminal Code of 2012 to modify the statute on theft of labor or services, specifically expanding the ways a person can be notified about returning rented property and adding new provisions about selling rented property. The bill allows notifications to return rented vehicles, equipment, or other personal property to be made through electronic means like email, in addition to traditional written demands. It also now considers it a theft offense if someone places the rented vehicle, equipment, or property for sale during the rental period or afterward without good cause. Additionally, the bill provides that courts may now order a person convicted under this statute to reimburse victims or their representatives for court filing costs, attorney's fees, and other related expenses. The changes apply to rental situations involving motor vehicles, equipment valued over $500, or other personal property valued over $500, where the rental agreement specifies a return time and place. The bill aims to provide more flexibility in notifying renters about return requirements and to create additional legal consequences for those who misuse rented property.
