AI Summary

This bill amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law to establish a property tax rebate program for licensed, not-for-profit child care centers in Illinois. Starting in the state fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, child care centers that have paid property taxes to local governments or special districts will be able to apply to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for a rebate of those taxes. The program is subject to legislative appropriation, meaning funding must be approved by the state legislature. The Department is granted the authority to create rules and regulations for implementing the rebate program. By providing this financial support, the bill aims to help reduce the financial burden on not-for-profit child care centers and potentially support their continued operation and accessibility in local communities.
