This bill amends the New York Vehicle and Traffic Law to require the Department of Motor Vehicles to automatically issue a non-driver identification card to individuals whose driver's license has been suspended due to a driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrest. Specifically, when a court suspends a driver's license under the DWI provisions, the department must immediately provide the person with a non-driver identification card that includes a photo, which will be identical in form to other standard non-driver identification cards issued under section 490 of the vehicle and traffic law.
