This resolution congratulates Joseph B. Goho, the Superintendent of the North Providence Public Schools, for being named the "2025 Rhode Island Superintendent of the Year" by the Rhode Island Superintendents Association. The resolution highlights Goho's distinguished career in education, which includes serving as an English teacher, high school assistant principal and principal, and currently superintendent since 2019. During his tenure, he has made significant improvements to the school district, including securing $200 million in school construction bonds to build four new elementary schools, a new administration building, and renovate existing facilities. Goho has also introduced new high-quality curricula in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science, expanded Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, and supported multilingual and differently-abled students. Under his leadership, North Providence public schools saw record-breaking participation and improved scores on Advanced Placement (AP) tests. The resolution recognizes Goho's outstanding achievement in school district leadership, commitment to education, and service to the community, and directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Mr. Goho.
