This bill modifies the requirements for professional solicitors (fundraising professionals who collect donations on behalf of nonprofit organizations) when filing campaign literature with the Tennessee Secretary of State. Specifically, the bill changes the timing of when solicitation materials must be submitted. Under the current law, solicitors were required to file materials prior to starting a fundraising campaign, but the new law allows them to file within 90 days after completing a solicitation campaign or within 90 days after the end of the fiscal year for campaigns lasting more than one year. The bill also removes the requirement to provide samples of campaign materials and eliminates the previous mandate to notify the Secretary of State within seven days of making any modifications to solicitation literature or promotional materials. These changes appear to reduce administrative burdens on professional solicitors by providing more flexible reporting timelines and removing some detailed documentation requirements. The bill takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
