The state department of education will develop educational materials and distribute guidelines to local education agencies (LEAs) and public charter high schools before the 2026-2027 school year. The purpose of this instruction is to raise awareness among teenagers about a legal option for mothers who are unable to care for their newborns, potentially reducing infant abandonment and protecting both mothers and infants in challenging circumstances.
