This bill modifies existing Iowa election law regarding satellite absentee voting stations by adding two key provisions. First, the bill allows satellite absentee voting stations to be established on school property when a school-related ballot measure (such as bond approval, instructional support program, educational improvement program, physical plant and equipment levy, or public education and recreation levy) is being voted on during that election. Second, the bill requires election commissioners to remove or obscure any published campaign materials displaying candidate names or information about public measures from view at satellite voting locations, with the exception of official ballots, sample ballots, and envelopes. These changes aim to create more accessible voting locations for school-related elections and ensure a neutral voting environment by limiting visible campaign materials at satellite voting sites.
