This resolution commends and thanks Carla Davis, a Mississippi native and genetic genealogist, for her groundbreaking work in solving cold murder cases and identifying unidentified remains. As the Chief Genetic Genealogist at Othram, Inc., Davis leads a team of forensic genetic genealogists and has personally funded and helped solve multiple unsolved cases in Mississippi. Her mission began after her own experience of uncovering her biological identity, which inspired her to help families find answers about their missing or murdered loved ones. Davis has brought resolution to 18 Mississippi families by funding forensic genetic testing, including identifying victims like Kimberly Funk, Anderson Bolls, and Clara Birdlong, who were previously known only as unidentified remains. With extensive experience in genetic genealogy, including solving over 200 unknown parentage cases, Davis is committed to addressing the approximately 60 unidentified remains cases in Mississippi's National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. Her philanthropic efforts have not only brought closure to families but have also attracted other philanthropists to replicate her approach in different states, ultimately bringing honor to her home state of Mississippi.
