This bill creates a new specialty license plate called the West Valley Charity special plate, which allows residents to support a local charitable organization serving Phoenix West Valley communities. To implement the plate, an initial $32,000 implementation fee must be paid, and the plate design must be approved by the Arizona Department of Transportation. When someone purchases these special plates, $25 will be collected, with $8 going to special plate administration and $17 as an annual donation to a dedicated fund. The recipient charity must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has existed since 2013, has at least 50 active volunteers, and focuses on assisting children, families, and veterans while improving quality of life in West Valley communities. The bill also specifies that the first $32,000 collected will reimburse the entity that paid the initial implementation fee, and no more than 10% of annual fund revenues can be used for administrative costs. Additionally, the bill makes several technical amendments to existing statutes to incorporate references to this new specialty plate and update cross-references in various sections of Arizona's vehicle registration laws.
