AI Summary

This bill increases the dollar value thresholds for various public works and government contracts across multiple sections of Georgia's legal code, primarily raising the exemption or competitive bidding threshold from $100,000 or $200,000 to $250,000 in several key areas. Specifically, the bill modifies regulations related to public works contracts, school district purchases, school construction contracts, county and municipal road system contracts, public works bidding requirements, and state government construction contracts. The changes mean that smaller contracts under $250,000 will be exempt from certain competitive bidding, advertising, or detailed estimation requirements, which could potentially streamline procurement processes for local and state government entities. By raising these thresholds, the bill gives government agencies more flexibility in contracting and reduces administrative burdens for smaller-scale projects while still maintaining requirements for larger expenditures. The bill applies uniformly across different types of governmental contracts, creating a consistent $250,000 threshold for various competitive bidding and contracting regulations.
