The Division of Criminal Justice Services is authorized to submit fingerprints to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a national criminal history record check and must provide written notification to the seller about the purchaser's eligibility within 15 business days. The bill defines a 3D printer as a computer or computer-driven device capable of producing a three-dimensional object from a digital model. The legislation aims to prevent individuals who are legally prohibited from owning firearms from acquiring 3D printers that could be used to manufacture firearms, thereby enhancing public safety. The bill will take effect 30 days after becoming law.
