This bill amends the Judiciary Law to require the chief administrator of the courts to collect, compile, and publish more comprehensive data from all courts in the unified court system, including town and village courts. Specifically, the bill expands data reporting requirements in three main areas: family offenses, misdemeanor offenses and violations, and landlord-tenant proceedings. For each of these areas, courts will now be required to report detailed information such as the type of offense, relationships between parties, court of origin, disposition, and reasons for dismissal. The bill mandates that this data be disaggregated by county and individual court, published monthly on the Office of Court Administration's website in a digital, easily transmittable format, and included in the chief administrator's annual report to the legislature and governor. The expanded reporting aims to provide more transparency and detailed insights into court proceedings across different levels of the New York court system. The bill will take effect two years after becoming law, giving courts time to implement the new reporting requirements.
