This bill amends the New York State Judiciary Law to require the chief administrator of courts to compile, publish, and require reporting of more comprehensive and detailed court data from all courts in the unified court system, including town and village courts. Specifically, the bill expands data reporting requirements in three key areas: family offenses, misdemeanor offenses and violations, and landlord-tenant proceedings. For each of these categories, courts must now report detailed information such as the type of offense, relationships between parties, court of origin, disposition, and reasons for dismissal. The bill mandates that this data be published monthly on the Office of Court Administration's website in a digitally transmissible format, and included in the chief administrator's annual report to the legislature and governor. The data must be disaggregated by county and individual court, and will help provide more transparency about court proceedings across different levels of the New York court system. The bill will take effect gradually, with some provisions becoming active 180 days after passage, and others taking effect one or two years after becoming law.
