This resolution honors Lance Corporal Thomas William Hollis, a U.S. Marine who served and was killed in action during the Vietnam War, by designating a portion of Route 16 in Gillespie, Illinois (from Route 4 to Kelly Street) as the "LCpl Thomas W. Hollis Memorial Highway". The resolution provides background on LCpl Hollis, noting he was born in Macoupin County in 1948, enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1967, and was deployed to Vietnam as a rifleman with the 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Recon Battalion, B Company.
