Additionally, the department must develop financial literacy training for youth over 14 who are receiving or likely to receive public benefits, helping them understand and potentially manage their own finances. The bill increases the maximum amount of funds the department can hold for a youth from $500 to $2,000 and ensures a transparent process for transitioning financial management when youth exit the system or turn 18.
