This bill modifies the existing Pennsylvania vehicle registration law to remove time-of-day restrictions for certain farm vehicles when they are driven on highways. Specifically, the bill eliminates the previous requirement that farm vehicles can only be driven from sunrise to sunset. The bill applies to two types of farm vehicles: Type A vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating not exceeding 10,000 pounds, and Type B vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating between 10,000 and 17,000 pounds. These vehicles can now be driven between different parts of a farm, between farms located within 50 miles (for Type A) or 25 miles (for Type B) of each other, and to and from businesses within a specified radius for purposes such as buying or selling agricultural commodities, supplies, or getting vehicle repairs. By removing the sunrise-to-sunset limitation, the bill provides farmers with more flexibility in operating their farm vehicles on public highways, potentially making agricultural operations more efficient.
