This bill amends Tennessee state law regarding expense account submissions for assistant district attorneys general and criminal investigators. Currently, if these public employees fail to submit their expense accounts in a timely manner, the accounts would be automatically disallowed and not paid. The proposed change introduces a five-day grace period after the end of each month, during which these employees can submit their expense accounts with an explanation for the late submission. If they do so within this grace period, their expense accounts will still be eligible for payment. This modification provides more flexibility for these public employees while maintaining accountability for timely expense reporting. The bill is set to take effect on June 30, 2025, and applies specifically to the employees mentioned in Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 8, Chapter 7.
