It clarifies that athletic trainers can perform various healthcare procedures under physician supervision, including administering certain injections like epinephrine for anaphylaxis, naloxone for overdose, glucagon for diabetic emergencies, and flu vaccines, as well as performing superficial wound closure with dermal adhesive and administering intravenous fluids or dextrose in emergencies, provided they have proper training. The bill also updates requirements for out-of-state applicants and clarifies that this expanded scope does not permit athletic trainers to practice medicine, osteopathic medicine, podiatry, chiropractic, physical therapy, or nursing.
