Grant recipients can include tribes, local governments, state and federal agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Starting in the 2027-2029 fiscal biennium, the office will submit a prioritized list of recommended projects to the governor and legislature. The bill also includes provisions to ensure grant-funded facilities are maintained and used for their intended purpose, with potential financial penalties for non-compliance.
