This bill modifies existing Minnesota law regarding medical cannabis consumption restrictions, specifically targeting vaporizing and smoking within multifamily housing. The bill expands the existing prohibition on cannabis consumption to explicitly cover all types of cannabis – including medical cannabis flower, cannabis products, artificially derived cannabinoids, and hemp-derived consumer products – in multifamily housing buildings, with this ban extending to associated balconies and patios. Individuals who violate this prohibition will be subject to a civil administrative fine of $250. The bill maintains previous restrictions on medical cannabis use, such as prohibiting consumption on school buses, in correctional facilities, near child care facilities, on public transportation, or in places where minors might be exposed to vapor or smoke.
