Additionally, for tenants operating child care homes, landlords may demand a security deposit exceeding the standard two months' rent. The bill further allows child care home operators to name their landlords or associations as additional insureds on their renter's or homeowner's insurance policies. These changes aim to support home-based child care providers by reducing barriers to operating their businesses in residential settings, with the primary goal of increasing the capacity of family child care homes to serve more children. The provisions will take effect on July 1, 2025, giving stakeholders time to prepare for and implement the new regulations.
