This bill modifies Tennessee state law regarding liquefied petroleum gas (LPG or propane) dealer licensing requirements by expanding the organizations that can provide safety and handling training classes. Currently, only the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) can sponsor these required educational classes for obtaining a propane dealer license. The bill changes the language to allow any state or national association representing the liquefied petroleum industry to provide these training classes, thus giving propane dealers more flexibility in meeting their licensing education requirements. The change is relatively narrow in scope, aimed at increasing the number of potential training providers while maintaining the underlying safety and professional development goals for propane industry professionals. The bill will take effect immediately upon becoming law, as specified in Section 2 of the legislation.
