This concurrent resolution honors the Green Mountain Hometown Heroes Banner Program, a commemorative initiative in Bennington, Vermont that displays customized banners along Route 7 recognizing local military veterans. The program, launched in 2024 through a collaborative effort between the Green Mountain Hometown Heroes Corporation, Bennington American Legion Post 13 Riders, and the Bennington VFW Post 1332 Riders, celebrates members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have served in various military branches and conflicts ranging from the Civil War to the Global War on Terror. The banners provide an opportunity for families to commemorate service members who are currently active, honorably discharged, or who died while serving, and were made possible through partnerships with the Bennington Select Board, Town Manager, public works crew, and Green Mountain Power. The program was formally dedicated on Veterans Day 2024 in a solemn ceremony, and this resolution formally recognizes the program's significance by directing the Secretary of State to send copies of the resolution to the key organizations involved in creating this patriotic tribute to local veterans.
