This bill establishes a competitive grant program administered by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to help address affordable housing and child care challenges by supporting the co-location of housing and child care facilities. The program will provide up to $10 million in grants to eligible entities like community development financial institutions, public housing authorities, Tribal organizations, and nonprofit housing developers to design, construct, renovate, or preserve facilities that include child care providers either within, on the premises of, or near housing facilities. Priority will be given to projects in child care deserts, low-income communities, or rural areas, and those serving low-income families or partnering with community development financial institutions. The program is authorized $100 million in funding for fiscal years 2026 through 2031, with the broader goal of supporting working families by making housing and child care more accessible and affordable.
