This bill amends Tennessee election law to enhance public access to election documents by requiring county election commissions to make certain election records available for inspection at different stages after an election. Specifically, within 15 days after an election, counties must provide electronic election records for a fee of up to $50. Starting immediately after final election certification, counties must make available images of voted ballots (if maintained) or cast vote records. Additionally, 61 days after an election, original voted ballots must be made available for public inspection, with the coordinator of elections responsible for redacting any personally identifiable voter information. The bill also stipulates that while individuals requesting these records may observe the scanning and handling process, they are prohibited from directly touching or handling physical ballots.
