Currently, the law prohibits owners, managers, and staff of public entertainment venues from wrongfully refusing admission to or ejecting persons over 21 who have a valid ticket, with some exceptions for disruptive behavior. The proposed change adds sporting events to the existing list of covered venues, which previously included legitimate theatres, burlesque theatres, music halls, opera houses, concert halls, and circuses. By including sporting events, the bill ensures that individuals attending sports venues will have the same legal protections against arbitrary refusal of admission or ejection as patrons of other types of entertainment venues. The law maintains provisions that still allow venue operators to remove individuals who are causing a disturbance or engaging in conduct that might breach the peace. The amendment takes effect immediately upon passage.
