AI Summary
This bill amends the Unified Code of Corrections to modify the responsibilities and procedures of the Prisoner Review Board regarding mandatory supervised release (MSR) for certain juvenile offenders. Specifically, the bill expands the Prisoner Review Board's authority to set conditions for mandatory supervised release and determine whether violations warrant revocation or other sanctions. The bill introduces a new provision requiring the Department of Juvenile Justice to notify the Prisoner Review Board at least 120 days before an offender turns 21 if the person was originally prosecuted under the Criminal Code, sentenced under the Juvenile Court Act, and convicted as an adult. The Board must then conduct a hearing with at least three members to decide whether the individual should be assigned mandatory supervised release or transferred to the Department of Corrections before turning 21. This change aims to provide a more structured approach to transitioning juvenile offenders who were convicted as adults, ensuring a thorough review of their case and potential release conditions as they approach adulthood.
