This bill amends Article 102.011(a) of the Code of Criminal Procedure to increase the reimbursement fee that defendants must pay for law enforcement services when executing or processing an arrest warrant, capias, or capias pro fine from $50 to $75. The fee will be charged to the law enforcement agency that either executes the arrest warrant or capias, or processes it if the warrant was not executed or the executing agency did not request the fee within 15 days. The bill specifies that this new fee rate will only apply to offenses committed on or after the effective date, which is September 1, 2025. For offenses committed before this date, the previous fee rate of $50 will continue to apply. This change is intended to help defray the costs of law enforcement services related to arrest warrants and similar legal documents, providing agencies with slightly increased compensation for these administrative and enforcement tasks.
