AI Summary

This bill, known as the Voter List Integrity Act, aims to modify Georgia's election laws by restricting the Secretary of State's participation in multistate voter registration organizations. The bill introduces new definitions for "multistate voter list maintenance organization" and "voter list maintenance," and prohibits state and local election officials from joining organizations that either encourage voter registration of non-registered individuals or share voter data beyond removing deceased, duplicate, or ineligible voters. The bill allows the Secretary of State to enter into voter list maintenance joint compacts with other states, while maintaining confidentiality of certain voter information such as social security numbers, email addresses, and driver's license numbers. Additionally, the bill removes previous provisions that allowed the Secretary of State to be a member of nongovernmental entities focused on improving voter registration systems. The legislation also maintains existing protections for voter registration applications, keeping them confidential except by court order, and authorizes the sharing of driver's license and identification card information for voter list maintenance purposes. The bill will become effective upon approval by the Governor or becoming law without approval, and it repeals any conflicting laws.
