AI Summary

This bill establishes the Pharmaceutical Collection Sites Educational Program within the Department of State to help pharmacies understand how to modify their federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration to receive and destroy mail-back packages of prescription drugs and install, manage, and maintain collection receptacles. Specifically, the program will assist the State Board of Pharmacy in educating pharmacies about their options under federal regulations that allow them to register modifications related to collecting and destroying prescription medications. The program aims to support efforts to safely manage and dispose of unused prescription drugs, which can help prevent drug misuse and accidental poisoning. The bill will take effect 60 days after enactment, providing pharmacies with time to understand and implement the new educational resources.
