AI Summary

This bill amends the Illinois Pension Code to modify several provisions related to the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District's pension system. The bill clarifies the definition of "salary" by specifying that for employees on disability benefits, salary is the amount on which the disability benefit is based. It introduces a new requirement that employees receiving ordinary disability benefits must be examined at least annually by a licensed healthcare professional appointed by the Board of Trustees. The bill also significantly expands the Board's powers to issue subpoenas, allowing them to compel witness testimony and document production for various purposes, including disability claims, administrative reviews, information collection, benefit administration, death determinations, and felony forfeiture investigations. Additionally, the bill sets guidelines for witness fees and provides the Board with the ability to seek court orders to enforce subpoena compliance. These changes aim to improve the oversight, administration, and transparency of the pension fund's operations, particularly in managing disability benefits and investigating potential issues related to fund management.
