AI Summary

This bill establishes fee caps and guidelines for dental provider licensing and permits within the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation. Specifically, the bill allows the director to set fees that are reasonable and necessary, with three key restrictions: general fees for any one purpose cannot exceed $550, initial or renewal licenses and permits for most dental providers cannot exceed $1,000, and initial or renewal licenses for a specific type of dental provider (likely dental hygienists or assistants) cannot exceed $200. The rules for establishing these fees are classified as routine technical rules, which means they will follow a standard administrative process for adoption. The bill is retroactive to June 29, 2023, and was designed to correct an inadvertent repeal of fee caps in a previous law (Public Law 2023, chapter 17) that transferred the Board of Dental Practice to the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation. The bill is considered an emergency measure, meant to quickly restore the fee-setting authority and ensure continuity in dental provider licensing.
