This resolution honors Corporal Tommy Neal Miller, a United States Marine who was killed in action during the Vietnam War, by designating a segment of Illinois Route 140 through Meadowbrook as the "Cpl. Tommy N. Miller Memorial Highway". The resolution recounts Miller's heroic actions on February 25, 1969, during a North Vietnamese Army assault at Fire Support Base Russell, where he risked his life to restore communications and assist fellow Marines, ultimately being mortally wounded by an enemy grenade. Miller, who was just 19 years old when he died, received numerous military commendations including the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V" and the Purple Heart, and is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC.
