This bill requires the Secretary of the Department of Commerce to file an annual report by January 1st each year that provides detailed information about workforce development funding supporting new and young businesses in Arkansas. Specifically, the report must include two key pieces of information: the percentage and total dollar amount of workforce development funding (including funds allocated by workforce development boards) that goes towards organizations or programs either helping individuals start new businesses in the state or providing services to businesses less than five years old with their principal place of business in Arkansas. The annual report must be submitted to three entities: the Governor, the House Committee on Insurance and Commerce, and the Senate Committee on Insurance and Commerce. The first such report is mandated to be submitted by January 1, 2027. The bill aims to increase transparency about how workforce development funds are being directed to support entrepreneurship and early-stage businesses in the state.
