This bill establishes a water technology study committee comprised of six legislative members (three from the Senate and three from the House of Representatives) and six additional members representing state agencies, universities, and water-related associations. The committee will consist of voting legislative members and nonvoting members from various organizations such as the Department of Water Resources, Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona, and Arizona Commerce Authority. The committee's primary purpose is to conduct comprehensive research on water conservation and technology, including examining current water-saving technologies in commercial and industrial properties, investigating water conservation initiatives in other states, evaluating the effectiveness of existing water-saving technologies, exploring the relationship between sustainable water technologies and the water-energy nexus, and identifying potential emerging technologies for more effective water supply management. By December 31, 2026, the committee is required to submit a detailed report of its findings and recommendations to the Senate President, House Speaker, and Secretary of State. The committee will automatically be dissolved after submitting its report, with the section of law establishing it set to be repealed on December 31, 2026.
