Bill Summary
This bill relates to the healthy and well kids in Iowa program (Hawki) coverage for applied behavior analysis services for the treatment of autism spectrum disorder, and the autism support fund. The bill prohibits the department of health and human services from accepting new applications for the autism support program after June 30, 2025. The bill repeals the autism support program July 1, 2027. The bill requires the medical assistance advisory council H.F. _____ to adopt rules to include applied behavior analysis services for the treatment of autism as benefits covered in a qualified child health plan included in a benchmark or benchmark equivalent plan and which comply with Tit. XXI of the federal Social Security Act. The bill appropriates $750,000 from the autism support fund to Hawki for FY 2025-2026 for purposes of maintaining the Hawki program.
