This bill amends Illinois law to create a special Lyme Disease Innovation instant scratch-off lottery game to help fund Lyme disease awareness and research initiatives. The bill establishes that the Illinois Lottery Department will create and sell a scratch-off ticket specifically designed to generate revenue for the Lyme Disease Innovation Program, with net proceeds deposited into the Lyme Disease Awareness Fund. The scratch-off game will begin on January 1, 2026, or as soon as practicable, and continue until December 31, 2035. The bill also specifies that the Department of the Lottery must consult with the Department of Natural Resources on the game's design and promotion, and ensures that marketing efforts for this game will not diminish marketing for other lottery games.
