This joint resolution commends Ken Jessup, a long-time advocate for individuals with disabilities who has been blind since birth and has made significant contributions to Virginia over more than three decades. The resolution highlights Jessup's extensive work in government affairs, representing various organizations focused on disability services, and his leadership roles in numerous statewide councils and advisory committees, including serving under 10 different governors. Jessup has been actively involved in organizations such as the Virginia Assistive Technology System, the Virginia Association for the Blind, and the Statewide Independent Living Council, and has been recognized locally in Virginia Beach, including receiving the Rotary Club's First Citizen award in 1993. Additionally, the resolution acknowledges Jessup's contributions as a writer for Virginia Capitol Connections magazine and his book about his lobbying experiences. The General Assembly formally commends Jessup for his legacy of service and directs the Senate Clerk to prepare a copy of the resolution to be presented to him as an expression of admiration for his substantial contributions to the Commonwealth.
