This bill amends the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) statutes to add traditional healing services as a covered health service for members who qualify through Indian Health Service or tribal facilities. Specifically, the bill introduces a new provision allowing traditional healing services under two key conditions: (1) the member must qualify for services through an Indian Health Service or tribal facility according to federal participation guidelines, and (2) the traditional healing service must be delivered by or through the Indian Health Service or a tribal facility. The bill makes these changes to both the general health services section and the long-term care services section of the existing law. Additionally, the bill includes an appropriation of $1,300,000 from the state general fund for fiscal year 2025-2026 to support these traditional healing services. The bill also slightly modifies the definition of "tribal facility" to include tribal organizations. By adding these traditional healing services, the bill aims to provide more culturally appropriate and holistic healthcare options for Native American members of the AHCCCS program.
