AI Summary

This bill amends the Nurse Agency Licensing Act to strengthen regulations and penalties for nurse agencies operating in Illinois. The legislation requires all nurse agencies to be licensed by the Department of Labor and establishes more rigorous requirements for obtaining and maintaining that license. Key changes include empowering the Department to impose a fine of up to $500 for submitting false or misleading information on a license application, allowing the Department to investigate nurse agencies upon receiving a complaint, and increasing potential civil penalties from a flat $10,000 to up to $10,000 per occurrence for violations. The bill also clarifies language throughout the Act, replacing generic terms like "person" with more specific references to "nurse agency" to make the regulatory requirements more precise. Additionally, the bill maintains existing provisions that require nurse agencies to provide detailed information about their financial solvency, management, insurance coverage, and compliance with employment laws. The legislation aims to improve oversight of nurse agencies to protect the health, welfare, and safety of patients and healthcare facilities, and it will take effect immediately upon becoming law.
